More than one thing

Most presentations aren't clean. That's the actual pattern.

Your ADHD looks like anxiety in social situations. Your anxiety looks like avoidance. Someone told you it was depression. Each label fits partially.

The stimming helps the anxiety. The anxiety drives the compulsion. The compulsion relieves the overwhelm. You can see the chain but can't locate the start of it.

You've been assessed. Partially assessed. Referred. Put on a waiting list. Had sessions. The picture hasn't fully resolved.

The burnout started before you knew what to call it. By the time you had the word, you'd been in it for years.

Masking uses the same resources as hypervigilance. You can't always tell which one is running. The depletion is the same either way.

You've explained yourself to professionals and felt more confused after the conversation than before it.
